A representative with Holiday Housewares confirms for GlobeSt.com that the locally based company is very close to completing the purchase. The purchase price was not disclosed but the acquisition reportedly would enable Holiday Housewares to consolidate its manufacturing and warehousing operations. The company has a 120,000-sf manufacturing plant here and leases warehouse space at various sites in the city.

Holiday also owns Plastican Inc., located here on Industrial Road.

Tucker is currently owned by Zeta Consumer Corp. of New Jersey, which went bankrupt 16 months ago. Holiday reportedly made a play for the Tucker building last year with the U.S.Bankruptcy Court in New Jersey but a private investor group won the bid. That group eventually pulled out, as did the second highest bidder. The court then offered Holiday the chance to buy the building and the company reached an agreement with Zeta. The bankruptcy court has already approved the deal and Holiday is now doing its final structural and environmental inspections.
