Largest 'Runway in the Bay' Proposal Tossed

SAN FRANCISCO-The purged proposal, the largest of four, was discovered to have the most negative effect on the environment and was protested against because of the noise problems it would create for the Bayview Hunters Point area.

SAN FRANCISCO-”F-2,” the largest of four proposals to build a new runway in the bay, is being replaced by a proposal for one half its size, according to San Francisco International Airport officials. The new proposal, “Alternative BX-6,” will take up less than a square mile while F-2 would have taken up 1,200 acres.

The airport has been researching several proposals in the hopes of creating a runway that will minimize delay time. The dropped proposal was discovered to have the most negative effect on the environment and was protested against because of the noise problems it would create for the Bayview Hunters Point area.
