The building, located at 8306 Cross Park Dr. in Austin's northeast submarket, has been occupied by Steag Electronics, which was purchased by Mattson earlier this year from its Germany-based parent company. With 16,300 sf of office and research and development space and 12,333 sf of warehouse space, the building also has three cleanrooms. The asking price is $3 million and the agent is Colliers Oxford Commercial in Austin.

Mattson and Steag manufactures semiconductor-making equipment. On Tuesday, Mattson reported a loss of $27 million, 74 cents a share, for the quarter ending July 1. In a conference call with stock analysts, CFO Ludger Viefhues called the current downturn the worst the semiconductor industry has seen.

As one way to cut costs, Mattson is selling the Cross Park Drive building and one in West Chester, PA. Mattson is also consolidating its Silicon Valley operations, reducing its space by 60,000 sf. Mattson officials acknowledged that it is a difficult market in which to sell a building, but that there have been some offers.
