Dirt is flying on the 263,000-sf community medical center. Phase I will be complete in 2002. "The 40-acre site for St. Luke's Woodlands Community Medical Center will allow for versatility," says Michael Jihn, president and CEO of St. Luke's Episcopal Health System. "As the Woodlands grows, St. Luke's would like to mirror that growth to benefit the community."

The community medical center is planning to offer pediatric services through local physicians and Texas Children's Hospital in addition to other services from organizations such as St. Luke's famous Texas Heart Institute, TIRR Rehabilitation Centers and the Hospice at the Texas Medical Center. The Texas Heart Institute is consistently ranked by US News & World Report as one of the top 10 cardiovascular centers in the nation.
