The global manufacturer of kitchen plastics products has been using the 120,000-sf Bob Carr Performing Arts Center in Downtown Orlando, 20 miles south, for shareholders' meetings and large corporate gatherings. Previously booked musical and other entertainment acts will continue to play at the Tupperware Center until the property is closed, company officials says.

The company is studying its sale options before giving the property listing to a brokerage, area brokers tell GlobeSt.com. Local construction industry estimators tell GlobeSt.com the replacement cost of the center today would be at least $130 per sf or roughly $11.4 million.

During its last reported quarter for the period ended Dec. 30, 2000, Tupperware earned 41.2 million or 71 cents per share on sales of $296.5 million. Those numbers are down 7% from $44.1 million or 76 cents per share on sales of $315.6 million in the comparable 1992 period.

For the year ended Dec. 30, 2000, the company earned $99.1 million or $1.71 per share on sales of $1.07 billion. That's up about 9% from $91.3 million or $1.58 per share on sales of $1.06 billion in the same 1999 period.
