DENVER-Talk about a sweet real estate deal. Doughnut king Krispy Kreme plans three new stores in Colorado over the next six months, following the astounding success of its first store.

New stores are planned in Thornton, Aurora and Colorado Springs.

Krispy Kreme, based in Winston-Salem, NC, opened its first Colorado Store in March in Lone Tree, near the Park Meadows regional mall. The store, operated by local franchisee Glazed Investment LLC, had customers standing in line for up to two hours for the doughnuts. Since then, customers lines have thinned down, but there still often are 15 to 20 minute waits to fill an order.
