The museum would be part of the NASA Research Park, which will propose to build a 200-acre aeronautics and computer science campus at Moffett Field. University facilities, R&D space and offices for private and nonprofit businesses would surround the museum.
Moffett Field is an area in the center of Silicon Valley that has been solely used for NASA. This would be the first commercial development in the area. A federal environmental impact statement regarding the project will be released in mid-October.
The Computer Museum History Center currently boasts the largest collection of computer-related artifacts in the world, from a 1976 Apple model to an Enigma encryption machine from WWII.
