Office Depot Opens Prototype in Suburb

ENGLEWOOD, CO-A radically different layout using a circular flow of traffic will allow those inside to easily see around the store from any point. Technology and education centers also are included.

ENGLEWOOD, CO-Office Depot Inc., the world’s largest seller of office products, has opened its first of a new prototype store at 895 W. Hampden Ave. in this community southwest of Downtown. It also opened a similar store in Palm Beach Gardens, FL with plans to roll out 11 of these stores as part of the pilot program by the Delray Beach, FL-based company.

The footprint design is radically different from the old warehouse superstore format of the late ’80s and early ’90s, the company says. The new stores will create a circular flow of traffic that allows customers–as well as employees–to easily see around the store from any point. The idea is to provide better access and convenience.

Over the next year, the company will study the the performance of the new stores and make any necessary adjustments.
