Reading, PA-based VF Factory Outlet, a manufacturer's outlet that sells brand names like Vanity Fair, Lee, Wrangler, JanSport and others at half off the lowest ticketed price, is the retail outlet division of VF Corp.
"Their brand names at value prices will enhance the selection and variety currently offered to shoppers at The Great Mall," says Lucy Checksfield, vice president of value megamall leasing for Glimcher DevelopmentCorp.
Product lines are direct from the factories of the corporation's operating companies and include jeans, sweats, college logo and team licensed apparel, NASCAR apparel, sleepwear, lingerie, swimwear, casualsportswear, backpacks and kids clothes.
"The Kansas City area offers a terrific populace from which to drawtraffic and Olathe is ideally located with easy highway access," says SteveLehmann, vice president of VF Factory Outlet.
Parent company VF Corp., based in Greensboro, NC, is the world's largest publicly held apparel manufacturer. This is the company's second store in Kansas and the first in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
VF Factory Outlet claims to have begun the outlet phenomenon in Reading, PA in 1970 when it converted the Berkshire Knitting Mills into the nation's first outlet center, housed in the mill's original factory buildings. Today, Reading is the outlet retailer's flagship location with another 54 stores in 25 states nationwide.
The Great Mall of the Great Plains opened in August 1997. It has since become Kansas' largest outlet mall featuring more than 120 manufacturer and retail outlets, specialty shops, restaurants and eateries.
Glimcher Realty Trust owns, manages, buys and develops enclosed regional and super-regional malls, value megamalls, and community shopping centers.
