Last year, Mortenson was the largest general contractor in the Denver area.
Nationally, it currently is building the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles by Frank O. Gehry. That facility is similar in design complexity to the Denver Art Museum addition, which is one of the reasons it was chosen.
In Denver, it also built Coors Field and the Pepsi Center, where the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche play.
The Denver Art Museum addition is designed by Daniel Libeskind and Davis Partnership.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2003 with the completion set for spring of 2005.
The privately held Mortenson is based in Minneapolis.
