Microbrew Brothers Eye Vancouver Barracks

VANCOUVER, WA-As consultants mull new uses for the oldest military post in the Northwest, Brian and Mike McMenamin are considering it for a venture similar to their transformation of the 38-acre Multnomah County poor farm into a thriving, alcohol-oriented resort.

VANCOUVER, WA-The Brothers McMenamin are eying the Vancouver Barracks for a project similar to Edgefield, a an alcohol focused resort created from what the remains of Multnomah County’s poor farm located several miles east of Portland.

A spokesperson for the company confirmed this week that Mike and Brian McMenamin — owners and operators of more than a few dozen brewpubs in Oregon and Washington as well as several historic hotel properties — are in preliminary discussions regarding the property and recently took their second walkthrough of the barracks, the oldest military post in the Northwest.

Last fall, the 16-building western portion of the compound was transferred from the U.S. Army to the City of Vancouver. E.D. Hovee & Co., a Vancouver market feasibility company, is now studying possible uses for the site with Portland design firm SERA Architects.
