New 700,000-SF Mall Opens in Muskegon

MUSKEGON, MI-The retail development on 100 acres marks the ninth mall developed in Michigan by CBL & Associates Properties Inc. of Chattanooga, TN. Anchors include JCPenney, Sears and Younkers.

MUSKEGON, MI-The 700,000-sf Lakes Mall, the newest enclosed mall development by CBL & Associates Properties Inc. of Chattanooga, TN, opened Aug 15. Developed on a 100-acre site in the southeast quadrant of the intersection of Sternberg Road and Harvey Street in Fruitport Township, the mall debuted with 71 stores.

“The Lakes Mall is one of only 11 new malls opening in the country this year,” says CBL president Stephen Lebovitz. The mall was developed under a joint venture with David Hocker & Associates of Owensboro, KY.

Among 71 stores that opened were three anchor department stores including JCPenney (106,731 sf), Sears (115,600 sf) and Younkers (106,131 sf).
