The ACC's features mimic those of a full-scale hospital. It is multi-departmental and focused on outpatient services including a 24-houremergency care center, pain clinic, digestive care center, on-site diagnostic imaging and laboratory services.
"The project's scope enveloped the expansion of a 17,000-sf facility built in the late 1980s," sats project designer David Jaegar. "We essentially quadrupled the square footage, creating a 'big box.' This floor plan allowed us to maximize patient treatment areas, while concentrating support and waiting areas."
HarleyEllis of Detroit was part of a project team including constructionmanager, Barton Malow of Southfield, MI.
Saint Mary's of Saginaw opened a 15-bed hospital in 1874 to provide medical care to area lumberjacks, river men and sawmill employees. Originally operated by the Daughters of Charity , the 268-bed Saint Mary's is Saginaw's oldest hospital and Northern Michigan's first hospital.
