The new three-story buildings will rise on 40 acres adjacent to the current 30-acre Toyota Motor Sales headquarters. The expansion will add an additional 625,000 sf to the Toyota campus, which stands at 19001 S. Western Ave. The new space will be used to house Toyota's Customer Service and Financial Services divisions, which will move to the new buildings in early 2003.
Irvine-based LPA Inc. has been chosen to design the project, which is being developed by Toyota Motor Sales. Toyota's new facilities are being designed to meet the US Green Building Council's standard for environmentally sound buildings. To achieve the standard, the complex will need to meet criteria in several categories including water efficiency, sustainable sites and indoor environmental quality.
As part of the expansion, Toyota is funding street improvements and area landscaping around the the facility to improve traffic flow. The completed campus will consist of 20 buildings encompassing 70 acres.
