DC-based Dickstein Shapiro Morin & Oshinsky signed a 10-year lease for 2 1/2 floors of additional space at its 1177 Avenue of the Americas headquarters. One of the floors, previously occupied by Bank of America, was leased fully furnished, and is already occupied by the firm. The remaining 1 ½ floors will be occupied in February 2003, according to a spokesperson from Dickstein Shapiro.

"The firm plans an aggressive expansion in New York and this property was unique in its ability to not only accommodate Dickstein Shapiro's immediate but also its future needs," says Mark Ravesloot, one of the Insignia/ESG brokers on the deal comments in a statement.

In January, Dickstein Shapiro merged its 270-attorney firm with Roberts, Sheridan & Kotel, a 30-attorney, New York-based firm. The new entity, which retains the name Dickstein Shapiro Morin & Oshinsky, has 50 attorneys based in New York.

Insignia represented both sides in the transaction. Along with Ravesloot, New York brokers William Iacovelli, Michael Monahan and Silvio Petriello, together with Washington DC-based Timothy Hutchens and Patrick Mahady, negotiated the deal for Dickstein Shapiro, while Gregory P. Knoop and Edward Goldman acted for the building owner.

Insignia is also the leasing agent for the 30,500-sf space at 12 E. 49th St. previously occupied by Roberts, Sheridan & Kotel.
