Cima Pays $5.2 Mil for 107,000-SF Building

BROOKLYN PARK, MN-The pill manufacturer shifts from tenant to building owner with the purchase of the facility where it had rented space. The complex will allow the Cima Labs Inc. to add manufacturing and product development facility.

BROOKLYN PARK, MN-Cima Labs Inc. has paid $5.2 million for a 107,000-sf building that will be used to house a second manufacturing facility and an expanded product development center, including laboratories. The Eden Prairie, MN-based company, which makes pills that dissolve quickly in the mouth for pharmaceutical companies, had previously leased about a third of this building for its product development center.

The company will take possession of the building early in the second quarter of 2002 and plans to start expanding its product development center later this year. Cima officials say they expect to have the new manufacturing facility completed and available forproduction by early 2004.

“Purchasing the building that houses our product development center proved to be the most cost-effective way to increase our manufacturing and product development capacity,” says John M. Siebert, president and chief executive officer of Cima.
