The retailer has inked a 10-year lease for the location that executives say will be up and running in time for the holiday shopping season. The power center is at 6339 E. Southern Ave., adjacent to the Superstition Springs Center, a regional mall at the southwest corner of Southern Avenue and Power Road.
Retail space is Mesa leasing just about as well as most space in the Valley. At the mid-year point, Mesa's retail vacancy rate stood at 5.9% in comparison to an overall rate of 6.1%. During the first two months of the year, just 25,000 sf of retail space was absorbed in Mesa, but any positive absorption was a good sign. Four of the Valley's nine submarkets have negative net absorption for the year.
Bob Pearlstein of the Phoenix office of CB Richard Ellis represented the tenant while Steve Steuck of Westcor Partners in Phoenix acted for the building owner, Westcor Company II LP.
