The planned nine-story structure will house the foundation's area staff, serve as high-tech exhibition space, conference facility, and broadcast studio. Four levels of below-grade parking also are planned. The foundation's headquarters are in Menlo Park, CA.
The foundation said it plans to host 50 to 100 events per year and much of the space will be geared toward public events. The first floor will have exhibition space, and the second-floor will be a multi-purpose conference facility that will be able to accommodate up to 250 people.
Clark Construction Group has been selected as the general contractor. Other project team members include Mullen-Rubin Architects, structural engineer Weidlinger Associates, and mechanical/electrical engineer Flack & Kurtz.
The Kaiser Family Foundation focuses on health care research in health policy, media and public education, and health and development in South Africa.
