The council has given the go-ahead to enter into a leasehold purchase agreement with CDM Investors LLC, which will allow the city to take over the former Fedco facility. The $3.2-million lease will then be transferred to Wal-Mart, as the new tenant in the space. The facility is located at 8450 La Palma Ave., on the east side of the Buena Park Mall.

Buena Park Mall is the county's oldest regional shopping center. Built in 1961, it has undergone extensive renovations in recent years. The mall features one million sf of retail space, with tenants including Sears, Burlington Coat Factory, Ross Dress for Less and Bed Bath & Beyond. Renovations still continue at the Buena Park Mall, as an open-air entertainment complex is expected to open here in Summer 2002, according to an announcement made in November by the mall's exclusive developer, The Festival Companies.
