Raytheon operates two core businesses in Aurora. One is a large-scale data processing ground systems for satellite and space-based programs and the other is a secure managed service data hosting for commercial and government customers.

A total of 1,821 employees work there and its boasts $300 million in revenues last year. While other high-tech companies are laying off people this year, Raytheon has bucked the trend and hired 350. Many of the jobs were for high-paying engineer positions.

In fact, Raytheon is the single largest private employer in Aurora.

Its campus spans 45 acres. The Panattoni building feature the latest indirectlighting, open floor plans, collaborative huddle areas and meeting, redundant power and a data backbone to support software development. Employee amenities include a 25,000-sf fitness area and cafeteria, convenience store, outdoor plaza, kinetic sculptures and outdoor sand volleyball court.

Raytheon is based in Lexington, MA. Worldwide, it has 93,000 employees and had $16.895 billion in revenues in 2000. It is larger than industry giants such as Coca-Cola, Sun Microsystems and Eastman Kodak.
