Representatives at the mayor's office say that as of yet, the city has no formal plans for the parcel of land. The state had ordered the city to install a gas collection system at the landfill to prevent any migration of methane gases. Some migration had been detected.
Reportedly, the project is slated to be completed by mid-December, within the state-ordered timeline. A representative at the city's planning office tells GlobeSt.com that the options for developing the site are limited. He notes that residential or commercial options are problematic because of the methane that was detected. At one time, he adds, the city had considered developing a golf course on the site.
