The village's master plan provides for activating water uses, increasing public access to the river shoreline, redeveloping abandoned bronwfield industrial sites, the development of new affordable housing for existing residents, increasing recreational opportunities and transportation access and creating a tourist destination on the village's waterfront.

Ginsburg Development officials say that the residential housing component of the master plan that is currently being reviewed by the village, would include approximately 850 units of housing. Other major facets of the plan are a Public Promenade that would afford views of the Hudson River from abandoned brownfield industrial sites, a Hudson River Children's Museum, a parking garage and the possible expansion of existing weekday ferry service to Westchester and New York City to weekends in order to bring in more tourists.

The keynote speaker at the conference will be Ann E. Breen, co-founder of The Waterfront Center, a non-profit education and urban planning organization that specializes in the study of waterfront preservation and redevelopment.
