GlobeSt.com UPDATE: Expressway, New Developments Creep Up on East Lake County

SORRENTO, FL-Commissioners are asking the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority to lay its cards on the table and tell the public at a Sept. 18 open meeting what new road-growth plans are scheduled for the once-sleepy rural area, 28 miles northwest of Downtown Orlando.

SORRENTO, FL-This tranquil horse-riding area of rural Central Florida may be dotted with new residential, retail and commercial development over the next 10 years if a planned extension of State Road 429, north from Apopka, FL, moves into the construction stage, 28 miles northwest of Downtown Orlando.

The Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority and Lake County government officials tell area residents that specific road work is only in the conceptual stage and may not even be built.

But residents aren’t buying that argument. They are demanding to be heard at a Sept. 18 public meeting scheduled by the road-building agency and Lake County elected officials.
