Austin Firm Forms JV for Expansion Exploration

AUSTIN-Austin-based BGI, an operator of 361 Charity Stations in Texas, has partnered with Seattle-based Wescom Capital to beef up its count to 500 by October. The joint venture will be based in Seattle, but draw on staff from both cities.

AUSTIN-BGI Inc. and Wescom Capital Inc. are teaming up to find ways to increase the number of BGI’s promotional sweepstakes machine, Charity Station. BGI operates 361 Charity Stations in Texas and expects that number to increase to 500 by October.

The partnership with Wescom will explore ways to take the machine national by evaluating states’ regulations, identifying district partners, developing a maintenance system and integrating standardized accounting and cash management systems. The joint venture, named Washington Station LLC, will be located in Seattle and will draw staff from BGI and Wescom. “We see a substantial growth opportunity in a marketplace that has been largely underdeveloped,” Reid Funderburk, BGI’s CEO, said in a prepared statement.
