The deal also involves future development rights for Chili's in all or portions of 14 states.
Sydran's Chili's restaurants and development areas are located in parts of Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Idaho, Montana, Washington, Arkansas, New Mexico, Wyoming, Utah, Missouri, Colorado, and Texas.
"We definitely think there's opportunity for further growth in these areas," says Doug Brooks, Brinker's president and chief operating officer.
The company expects the transaction to add slightly to earnings in the current fiscal year. Brinker and Sydran expect to complete the transaction during the fall, pending the transfer of all licenses and obtaining the necessary consents.
Brinker International either owns, operates, or franchises 1,148 restaurants under the names Chili's Grill & Bar, Romano's Macaroni Grill, On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina, Cozymel's Coastal Mexican Grill, Maggiano's Little Italy, Corner Bakery Cafe, Big Bowl, Rockfish Seafood Grill, and EatZi's Market and Bakery.
