The 864,000-sf expansion will about double the size of the center on 15 acres at 111 W. Harbor Drive. Tucker Sadler Noble Castro Architects, along with Los Angeles-based HNTB Architects, designed the expansion.
The exhibit halls can expand to more than 500,000 sf of space. Up to eight different events will be allowed to take place simultaneously, according to convention center officials.
Some 60,000 sf of meeting rooms, 170,000 sf of pre-function and lobby space, 280,000 sf of service and support areas and a 40,000-sf ballroom have also been added.
