Locals Oppose Walgreens in Town Center

BRIDGEWATER, MA-A plan to develop a Walgreen’s pharmacy in the center of town here has some local residents up in arms. The proposal comes after two historic buildings that were on the site where a developer is looking to build the pharmacy were destroyed a few days before a temporary restraining order that would have blocked the demolition took effect.

There will be a second public hearing shortly to decide whether the proposal will receive site-plan approval. “It’s a fact-finding mission,” Leslie Dorr, office administrator for the town planning board, tells GlobeSt.com. The town will examine issues like store dimensions, parking, lighting, drainage and landscaping. Dorr adds that her office has received numerous letters from residents opposing the plan being proposed by developer Lavender & Associates.
