Council Writes Book On Managing Stormwater

ST. PAUL, MN-The manual published by the Metropolitan Council addresses problems posed by a cold-weather environment. It can be used by developers, cities, public agencies and environmental engineers.

ST. PAUL, MN-In an attempt to preserve urban water quality, the Metropolitan Council recently published a manual for developers, cities, public agencies and environmental engineers that focuses on stormwater runoff management. The threat to preserving urban water quality will continue to grow as the Twin Cities continue to grow — especially as the region becomes more concentrated through urban development and redevelopment, according to the regional planning agency.

The manual illustrates specific building techniques for a variety of cold-weather conditions that make sense in the local environment. Other sections include information on regulations, local examples and contacts, model stormwater ordinances, a source list and bibliography.
