Managers Close Downtown High-Rises

DENVER-Security is heightened at Downtown office buildings, with managers outside deliveries and cleaning services in the wake of the suicide bombings at New York City's World Trade Center and Pentagon in Washington, DC.

DENVER-Evacuation is too strong of a word, but most office high-rises in Downtown were 70% to 100% empty following attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon Tuesday. Moments after the attacks, property managers were on the phone to tenants, advising them to close for the day.

Virtually all of them instituted heightened security measures, canceling everything from outside deliveries to cleaning services. Only people who work in the buildings with access cards were allowed in.

Many of the owners, such as Commonwealth and Brookfield, own buildings in other parts of the US, where they also are taking the same precautions.
