GSA spokeswoman Viki Reath told GlobeSt.com that federal employees worked in two low-rise buildings that were a part of the World Trade Center complex. Immediately after the first crash of the south tower, the buildings were evacuated, and the site is being assessed for damage.
Reath declined to say if there were any deaths or injuries or what specific departments were tenants. According to the GSA database, at least one lease is for 3,970 sf in One World Trade Center and four leases for 30,599 sf, 45, 588 sf, 24,150 sf and 84,003 sf at Seven World Trade Center.
GlobeSt.com was not able to immediately determine if there were additional sites where federal employees might have been affected by yesterday's terrorist attack.
Overall, GSA manages buildings or leases at 89 sites in New York City. In Washington and the suburbs, GSA said the government owns 171 buildings and leases space at 430 locations.
