The lease is the second announced in several days for the Woodland Park development. Late last week, the developer said VeriSign would take a whole building in Woodland Park. VeriSign agreed to lease 13-story, 405,000-sf Waterview I. Owned by the Tishman Speyer/Travelers Groups real estate venture; Woodland Park plans to build out as much as 4.8 million sf of office space, a 150-room Embassy Suites Hotel and 400 apartment units. Tishman Speyer said in a statement that it has already developed 1.4 million sf of space at Woodland Park.
Tishman Speyer is not only busy in Northern Virginia, but also has a speculative development in downtown Washington. Tishman Speyer plans to break ground this November on One Metro Center, a 415,000-sf building to be located on G Street NW, between 12th and 13th Streets. Delivery of the building is planned for the second quarter of 2003. Spec is not a word being used often now, but the District remains probably the strongest market in a downtown with stable government, association and professional services firms as the biggest tenants.
