"Construction of this project is unique in that we are building a new facility around and over the top of an existing 30,000 square foot industrial building," says Trammell Crow Co. Vice President Rick Delisle. "The former warehouse will be totally enclosed by the new facility and utilized as the Harley Davidson Bike Shop."
Harley Davidson has a dealership and repair shop in nearby Waukegan, but will relocate those operations to Green Oaks, which will be one of their five largest facilities. While Delisle and fellow Trammell Crow vice president Thomas P. Wagener are in charge of marketing the 35,000 sf of spec space, Lake Forest, IL-based The Dobbins Group is designer and builder of the project.
"The project has a little of everything," says Tom Dobbins, president of the architectural, engineering and construction firm. "It includes remodeling an interesting old bow string truss building, building a new roof structure over the existing building, providing leasable warehouse space, creating a unique showroom environment for Harley Davidson and developing an innovative storm water detention system allowing almost 100% utilization of the property."
