"A great number of our friends, loved ones, tenants and co-workers are lost or missing. Our prayers are with them, their families and those who were injured. We offer our sincerest condolences to the families of those who perished in this vicious assault.

"We will never be able to pay adequate tribute to those incredibly brave firefighters and police officers who lost their lives while trying to save others. Their courage and valor will become a permanent part of American history.

"We extend or deepest gratitude to Governor Pataki, Mayor Giuliani, the FDNY, NYPD, EMS, National Guard, doctors and other healthcare workers, law-enforcement personnel government workers, elected officials, volunteers and everyone who is involved in this massive rescue effort.

"We will not forget the brave men and women who lost their lives or were injured on September 11, 2001. History will record that anyone, anywhere, who believes in freedom and democracy [on Tuesday] became a New Yorker.

"We will have no further comment at this time."
