Laguna Beach-based Calvary has paid $4.3 million for the property, which is located at 45 Tesla Way in the Irvine Spectrum. The R&D building will be renovated within the next several months, in order to accommodate a sanctuary, office and classrooms. Calvary Chapel will move into the facility when the renovation is completed.

Grubb & Ellis represented Calvary in the transaction.

Earlier this year, Calvary paid $4.5 million for a 52,960-sf building in Anaheim Hills, which it also bought to use as a church. The facility, which stands at 5605 E. La Palma Ave., is located in the Canyon Corporate Center complex. Built in 1976, it is one of several office, flex-tech and industrial buildings inside the center, which totals 360,000 sf.
