CASSVILLE, WS-Mid-America Power is proposing plans for a major 200-megawatt expansion to its coal-fueled electric generating power facility. Mid-America recently unveiled its plans for the Cassville Energy Center as a redevelopment project ofthe existing 53-megawatt E. J. Stoneman Power Plant to members of the village board here.

Mid-America bought the Stoneman Plant in 1996 from Dairyland Power. The plan calls for construction of an additional 200 megawatts of electrical capacity integrated with the existing 53-megawatt Stoneman Plant.

Mid-America is a joint business venture of WPS Power Development of Green Bay, WS, a subsidiary of WPS Resources, and Burns & McDonnell of Kansas City, MO.
