SEATTLE-While walk-on passengers should experience few, if any difficulties in their daily travels, car-dependent ferry customers will not be permitted to use the Southworth ferry for three weeks during October 2002. The dock is being upgraded as part of a project started last fall, when timber wing walls were replaced with steel ones.

Those traveling by car will be forced to use the Bremerton car ferries or drive around via the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.

Washington State Ferries will hold an open house from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 2 at Sedgwick Junior High, 8995 Sedgwick Road in Port Orchard, WA. The goal of the meeting will be to answer questions about the project and discuss transportation alternatives.
