AUSTIN-Interstate Batteries Inc., based in Dallas, is set to open its first stores in Austin. The battery distributor and retailer has signed leases in Central Austin and South Austin retail centers with openings set for November.

Johnny Cram of United Commercial Realty’s Austin office represented Interstate in its search for space in Austin and in negotiating the two five-year leases. The company took 2,400 sf at the Lamar Village center, located at Lamar Boulevard and 38th Street. The battery store will move into the space vacated by Fiesta Flowers, which is moving to a smaller store in the center. Jeff Simmons represented the landlord, Highland Resources.
