$39 Mil in Renovations at 2 High Schools

McHENRY, IL-An additional 131,000 sf will be added to McHenry East and McHenry West high schools, increasing their total size by more than 40%. Turner Construction Co. is managing the work.

McHENRY, IL-Two high schools in this far northwest suburb will undergo major renovations and additions. Total cost of the projects at McHenry East and McHenry West high schools will total $39 million, and be managed by Chicago-based general builder Turner Construction Co.

A 104,000-sf addition, which will include a 2,000-seat gymnasium, 24 classrooms and a cafeteria, will be built around the existing 194,000-sf McHenry West High School, which also will be upgraded to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

A 27,000-sf addition will be built at the older 124,000-sf McHenry East High School, which also will see ADA upgrades, new lighting, technology additions, eight new laboratories and two computer labs.
