City Manager Asked to Look at Alternative Sites for School

WORCESTER, MA-The city council here asked the city manager to investigate alternative sites for a vocational high school that is supposed to be built on Belmont Hill here. But sources close to the deal tell GlobeSt.com that the decision to place the school on Belmont Hill is in its “final steps.”

The source notes that the city would like to have the school at this site but has met with opposition from the city’s conservation commission because of the wetlands on the site. The opponents to the Belmont Hill site reportedly contend that the city did not look into enough alternatives for siting the school.
