Council Sets Hearing for 'Home Ranch' Plans

COSTA MESA, CA-Locally-based development giant C.J. Segerstrom & Sons wants to build a 93-acre mixed-use project on a parcel currently used to grow lima beans. It received the Planning Commission's blessing earlier this week.

COSTA MESA, CA-The City Council here has set an Oct. 15 date to consider development giant C.J. Segerstrom & Sons’ controversial plans to build a 93-acre mixed-use project on one of the area’s relatively few remaining patches of agricultural land.

The parcel is bounded by the San Diego (405) Freeway, Sunflower Avenue, Fairview Road and Harbor Boulevard. It is currently used to grow lima beans.

Privately held C.J. Segerstrom, one of Orange County’s largest developers, wants the site for a project it would call Home Ranch. It would include office, industrial and retail space and also 192 single-family homes.
