Colton was executive vice president and CEO of the 205,000-member National Association of Home Builders from April 1984 through May 1999.
He is currently a senior scholar at Harvard University's Joint Center for Housing.
The 57-year-old Colton is president of KColton, a consulting and housing research company in McLean, VA. He serves as a member of the Millennial Housing Commission established by the Congress to examine national housing policy.
Colton is a former executive vice president of the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp. (Freddie Mac); staff director of the President's Commission on Housing; and White House Fellow and Special Assistant to the Secretary of the Treasury.
