U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein has announced that the Senate has approved $10.5 billion for military construction, housing and remediation projects, including $55 million for cleanup and renovation efforts at the military base in Hunters Point.
Feinstein, who chairs the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction, says that environmental cleanup funds will be allocated to bases on an as-needed basis, with priority to those requiring the most work.
In addition, the packages will include funds for military construction projects for active and reserve units, as well as family housing projects. "This bill funds the infrastructure that provides the foundation for training and preparing our military to fight, and for housing their families when they are away,'' Feinstein said.
