ASAT provides services for integrated circuit packaging, design and testing. The new center is to give the company's Austin customers faster access to ASAT's services.
Barton Creek Plaza is a complex of three buildings with a total of 202,500 sf. SigmaTel Inc., an Austin-based company that designs computer chips, also has operations at Barton Creek Plaza and is a customer of ASAT.
ASAT Inc., based in Fremont, CA is the United States unit of Hong Kong-based ASAT Holdings, which has operations in Asia and Europe. The company's sales 75% to $25 million in the quarter ending July 31. It lost $20.3 million compared to net income of $16.1 million in the same quarter in 2000. ASAT shares hit a 52-week low of $2.75 per share on Friday.
