The Vancouver facility will provide Light Photonics, an early-stage optical component supplier with industry-leading laser diode manufacturing capabilities. The facility includes 22,000 sf of class 1000 clean room space.

"Our product and process technologies allow us to significantly improve the performance while reducing the cost of active optial components," says Scott Keeney, president. "This new facility will give us increased control of product reliability and shortened design cycle times. Even with the current downturn in optical component markets, we strongly believe continued investment in our capabilities and proprietary technology position us for the industry turn around."

The Vancouver location puts Light into an affordable business climate, close to Portland's chip manufacturing infrastructure and skilled labor, Keeney says.
