Villareal, named to the board by Gov. Rick Perry, joins Tommy Whaley and Hector Delgado as other Perry appointments to the nine-member board. The board oversees the actions of Texas Economic Development, the state agency that's to foster business expansion in Texas and to market Texas businesses outside the state. Jeff Mosely, the agency's executive director, is in charge of its operations.

Villareal is CEO and president of Precision Task Group, a data processing consulting company with offices in Houston and Dallas. He's also chairman of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and a board member of the Greater Houston Partnership. He was appointed to the board of regents of the Texas State University System when George W. Bush was governor.
