Apple Valley is a fast growing suburb southern of the Twin Cities, increasing in population by 40% over the last decade to 48,360. While mainly a bedroom community, the area has seen a surge in commercial development, with $172 million in building permits taken out in 1999 and 2000 for industrial, office, retail, residential and other commercial projects.
