Known as the Edinburgh Technopole, the new 126-acre site will provide a location for companies to carry out research and entrepreneurial activity with the University. Companies occupying the Technopole will have the advantage of tapping in to research and consultancy from University of Edinburgh's academic staff, who pull in an annual research income expected to reach £117 million ($173 million) this year.
The Bush Estate is already home to almost 50 companies. The Edinburgh Technopole will sit within a significant cluster of world-class scientific institutes at Bush Estate, including The Roslin and Moredun Institutes, Scottish Veterinary Field Station and the Natural Environmental Research Council.
Sharon Bamford, Director of the Edinburgh Technopole said: 'Choosing an entrepreneurial environment that accelerates and provides for growth is a key business decision. We recognise the importance of access to a variety of different sized accommodation units for each stage of the companies development, hands on support for business and technology product development and a professional services environment that really understands the needs of the science and technology community.'
Grosvenor has long experience in the development of large strategic sites working with different types of partners. John Irvine, Grosvenor's director in Scotland said: 'Edinburgh Technopole offers companies the chance to work with one of the UK's leading research universities in outstandingly attractive surroundings on Bush Estate. We are confident we are creating a research park of international significance.
