2 Cancer Centers Open in Southeast Michigan

DETROIT-The new medical facilities cost a combined $35 million to build in the suburbs of Grosse Pointe Woods and Farmington Hills. They will offer closer, specialized care to patients, hospital officials say.

DETROIT-Southeast Michigan has two new cancer centers that recently opened in the area. The Van Eslander Cancer Center in Grosse Pointe Woods opened Monday following the opening of the Lawrence and Idell Weisberg CancerTreatment Center in Farmington Hills.

The three-story, 69,000-sf facility Van Eslander Cancer Center is affiliated with St. John Hospital and Medical Centers. The new center is located on one of the hospital campuses at Make and Moross roads.

The new center cost $25 million to build and equip, but is worth every penny, says company spokesman Mike Kairis.
