Oregon-Based Title Company Bought by First American

ROSEBURG, OR-One of the nation’s largest title companies has scooped up one of Oregon’s oldest. Santa Ana, CA-based First American Title Insurance Company has acquired Roseburg, OR-based Commercial Title Co. from owner Tom Wimberly.

“Our companies have worked together for 35 years as underwriter and agent, so this change will simply seem like the culmination of a very long engagement,” says Wimberly, the fourth generation of his family to be active in operating Commercial Title. Terms of the deal, which closed Sept. 28, were not disclosed by either company and were not otherwise immediately available.

Established in 1909, Commercial Title Co. maintains the leading market share position in Douglas County. The company operates a computerized title plant at its headquarters that contains electronic images of title records dating back to 1981 and traditional title records dating back to the late 1800s.
