The company, in its 30th year, has said that configuration and menu are driving up sales in the company-owned stores. The three current Austin stores that have what the company calls the "full package" averaged sales of more than $40,000 a week, compared to a system wide average of $12,000 a week. There are about 700 Schlotzsky's restaurants in 32 states.

The new store, the 10th the company owns store in its Austin base, cost about $1 million to build and outfit. It offers Internet-connected Apple Computer Corp. iMac computers for customers to use while waiting for their order or during their meal. It has about 30 full- and part-time employees.
